What is something people don’t know about you?
I have struggled with depression and anxiety nearly my entire life. I was on antidepressants consistently for about 7 years which is, in part, why I started CrossFit. I wanted to change. I didn’t want to rely on antidepressants to make my body feel good. It will be almost 1 year, since starting Crossfit, that I am antidepressant free. Crossfit has COMPLETELY regulated all of my chemical imbalances from the literal rejuvinating workouts. I have found that for me, I’ve needed to put my body in a state of being physical uncomfortable in order to regenerate.
How does CrossFit influence your life? CrossFit has been a complete lifestyle change for me. As I’ve mentioned before, the mental health aspect I have gained from CFWDM has been liberating. The tenacity mentality I’ve developed throughout brutal WODs makes any other obstacle or barrier throughout my days seem easy. I am extremely passionate about sharing my mental health success with Crossfit when I talk to others. Mental health should always be an open discussion and CFWDM welcomes it which I will forever be grateful for.
How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at CFWDM?1 year in February! CFWDM is my home
What class do you usually attend? It varies- I like meeting everyone at our box so I try to mix it up daily.
What is your favorite lift? Anything with a barbell. Except Thrusters. NEVER THRUSTERS.
Why did you start CrossFit? The other part of my why is because my fiance and I had a fitness bet. Whoever could get “most fit” in 3 months won the bet and got their prize; Him- a puppy. Me- an engagement ring. I won 🙂
What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? Hit and miss at different fitness centers. I was never successful because I got bored easily, didn’t know what to do and had no accountability.
What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Travel and concerts
What is your favorite song(s) to workout to? Depends on my mood that day. It could really range from girl power Beyoncé to raged Down With The Sickness
What is your favorite cheat/meal snack? Like 12 boxes of Velveeta Shells and Cheese.
How has CrossFit WDM helped you keep on top of your health and wellness goals? I have never been more physically (or mentally) in shape than what I am now, including the years of being a 4 sport athlete in high school. I feel good daily, have loads of energy to get through long work days, and again my mentality and outlook on life has been the biggest success in all of this. I am grateful daily for the knowledgeable coaches and supportive community at CFWDM and look forward to my continued journey with them.
