Coach of the Week – Jess Carter


What is something people don’t know about you? I enjoy doing house chores. Cleaning house and listening to a podcast is like therapy.

How does CrossFit influence your life? CrossFit has taught me self-growth and how to always move forward. Which has affected several areas of my life spiritually, emotionally and physically growth. I am lucky I be able to be able to be surrounded by positive like minded people.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at CFWDM?I’ve been doing CrossFit for 4 1/2 years and all with CFWDM. I have been coaching for 2 years now.

What class do you usually attend? As a Coach – I coach most mornings & afternoons and as a athlete the noon class or 4:30 PM. I try to get in and throw down with all of the classes throughout the week.

What is your favorite lift? Snatch

What is your favorite move? Handstand Walk

What is your favorite workout? Fran – 21-15-9 Thrusters & Pull-ups

Why did you start CrossFit? I was starting a new chapter in my life – and was led to CrossFit.

What keeps you coming back? The people. When I was just an athlete – it was the people. Now that I coach and help run CFWDM with Kris – its still the people. The community is pretty amazing.

What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? The elliptical – LOL – I didn’t know what intensity was. I would do 15 mins on the elliptical and then some abs.

What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? When I am not coaching, working out or working on something for CFWDM. When we get free time – we try to get in intentional time with the family or friends.

What is your favorite song(s) to workout to? Theif – Ookay. Abbey introduced me to it.

What is your favorite cheat/meal snack? If I had to choose one… Chocolate Chip Cookies

What is your favorite healthy/meal snack? Protein balls

What is the most difficult workout you’ve attempted? I use to think Kalsu. For time: 100 Thrusters 5 Burpees to start and at the top of every minute – but after doing it a few times – its not as terrible as it was the first time. #progress

How has CrossFit WDM helped you keep on top of your health and wellness goals? Before starting CrossFit I didn’t have much of health and wellness goals – Now health and wellness is my life and I get the opportunity to help others create and achieves theirs.

I also found my passion. My passion for fitness, for photography and for most importantly Jesus Christ
